i would suggest using 40mm Nerf darts. i doubt you could exceed 12 foot-pounds with such a light projectile.

Heck, it's not what I load, it's what the police choose to load. They could load 1 1/2" ball bearings if they felt nasty (although strictly, they shouldn't if it's marked as a paintball gun)

And a half gram air rifle pellet can easily exceed 12 ft-lbs if it goes fast enough - same with a Nerf dart - enough velocity, anything will go over 12 ft-lbs.

Exactly, otherwise you could say it fires 'wiffle golf balls':

Hmm that's not a bad idea...I remember pimpmann22 once made a golf ball gun for a golf club or something so they could test the consistency of (damaged?) golf balls.

You could convert or make a website for the eclipse "paintball" gun and include a nice big link on the gun :D.

or have a support number.

Mmm are customs really that bad ?
I have a friend who managed to import a bullet proof vest, a tritium holographic sight, various parts of an M4A1, and other stuff wich would be considered illegal over here.

Ok this is France, but they're view on firearms and airguns are praticaly the same as in the UK.
Its not 12ft-pounds they fuss about but 10J.
Paintball guns tend to go higher than that, but you'd just need to be 18 to buy one. (full auto mode is meant to be illegall too...)

One can buy this http://www.shop-paintball.com/lance-roq ... -1512.html from the local paintball shop, and they manage to import it.

My Uni is letting us work on a project involing designing and bulding a modern girandoni based airgun. Its illegal to own anything like that or even most of its parts without a licence (just buying a 11mm rifled barrel, would tend be a problem), but this is considered OK for mech eng studies.

So quite a few of the above suggestions in this thread could work.

Worse. They have been known to stop things which are entirely legal, and even sold in this country.

I imagine trying to bring a cannon into the UK is like trying to bring fruit from Asia into New Zealand

Damn near impossible

On a serious note, forgive me if you have already answered this...But is there a possibility you could import it with recommendation from your University or something like that?

Haha. This is how i carry my guns through the city to get to my friends house. First time he did it his mom flipped.

BTW, they have radar scanners. They can tell whats inside said case. If they cant, They will open it up.

twizi, I think it's best if you stop talking.

As Mark Twain once said "It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt"

A cost of a cruise to a country in Europe where cannons are legal is probably going to cost more then the gun itself. Or at least more then it's worth. I'd imagine they'd still have customs as well, having never been on a cruise I'm not certain but I would think so.

Edit: Just fixed a few mistakes I made sub-conciously.

No, I can own it perfectly legally as a paintball gun. The trouble is that customs might not agree that it's a paintball gun.
but could u ship it in a music instrument case like a tuba case or somthin?
Yes - because putting it in a box will fool all hell out of them.

No, I think not. If they open it, it will be blatantly obvious. If they can't open it, they won't pass it.

You seem to assume I have the resources to get it shipped anywhere, and then the resources to get there.
As has been pointed out, Britain is an island, all governed by the same law, and I'm not making overseas jaunts.

@rp181: Actually, the UK isn't an island. Britain is - but the UK consists of Britain, the Isle of Wight, some Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, and a few other places.
