My other hobby... Well, one of them.

Meaningful discussion outside of the potato gun realm. Projects, theories, current events.

Right now:

I got a Springfield 1911, Glock 22, Ruger Mini 14, and Remington 870

The shotty is my fav and I was able to do this last time I was at the range:

All five shots were fired at 25 yards and taken in less than 10 seconds. The first shot fired (of the day) is the one not grouped with the others.

I've got 2 Winchester M59-12ga with the glass barrels, and a cute little remington 552 speedmaster .22 ...

for those who aren't familiar with glass barrels:
A Glass-Barreled Wonder

That something different was the M59 (yep, born in 1959). Actually, the mechanism and operation of the M59 was identical to that of the M50, with several interchangeable parts. But what was radically different about the M59 was that it had a glass barrel! Not glass like a beer mug, but some 500 miles
of thin glass fibers wrapped around a steel tube. To what advantage? Win-chester claimed that the glass barrel was stronger than ordinary steel barrels, and proved it by plugging the bore with a 20-gauge shell and firing a 12-gauge load behind it. The glass barrel survived the test.

Can't believe I'm gonna inherit it all some day.
Lucky $#%&.

I'd like to get into something like the ar-15 thing going on, but there's no way in hell it will happen in Australia. Perhaps if someone massacred politicians with a rifle rather than innocent people the light would be seen that guns can be used for good.

Sadly it was not politicians that were gunned down but those sent out to do the dirty work implementing their misguided policies.

We should digress though, every firearm related thread seems to get bogged down in political discussion which has no real place in a spudding forum.

On a light hearted note, this reminds me of a recent work conversation. I had chastised a female colleague for acting like an adolescent, and said her behaviour should reflect her age. She simply turned to me and remarked "You throw potatoes. At high speed."

To say that I was left speechless is a bit of an understatement  :D

A shame indeed, quite bad timing on my part.

It's strange how we all love the guns, but hate what they can do.
I'm sure all here understand the phrase " guns don't kill people

So let's move on to what they should be used for..
Like ending up in a beautiful collection.
Sorry for the interruption..
