Sometimes it's beneficial to buy parts more purpose built for your application. I do that often, but there's sometimes a sense of satisfaction making something work that you had lying around or someone gave to you, or something. Being resourceful, I suppose. Then once you get something together, then spend some more money with purpose built parts.

I would have done it with parts lying around if i could ... But we moved and almost all the tools got thrown away
