My everyday carry is a Gerber 22-41021 Obsidian Fine Edge Knife With Screwdriver and Bottle Opener.

I also have a number of others. For backpacking and bicycle touring I take a Gerber Ultralight LST or a Mora Craftline Q Allround 511depending on what makes sense for the particular trip. The Mora is a great knife at a very low price.

Since I am retired I may get back in to knife making. I made a couple usable knives in the distant past.

hehe knifemaking is a great hobby, and hopefully my future career...

Ohwell, my knifemaking has been stopped for some time as i trying to get some funds to buy proper steel, meanwhile I'm practising my damascus skills by making rings :D

Made this one today, its seamless...

Though soon I'll get a "labhammer" for like a week, so expect some big blocks of damascus hehe

Ok, here's a blade of mine that's been in need of a handle, I've made my first Micarta scale, gonna make the second one today, the knife'll be ready the day after tomorrow I suppose.

Started making a base for my new anvil, finally I get one that is at the right height for me (as I'm a bit of a midget...)

As the crisis in Europe seems bad and Russia is oppressing everyone I decided to make it nuclear war proof, wimpiest steel thickness is 6mm and that just for the corners... :D

All welds this far has been done with 4mm welding rod @ 200-220A current, that should last

Image

This is the anvil that is going to be mounted on top of it, Finnish made Lokomo 80A. (here posing while measuring the correct height of it with my 4kg forging hammer)

Hard to find one in good shape these days, but I managed to find one in perfect shape. Expensive as f*ck but ohwell, it'll last a lifetime :)

With this rate the whole anvil setup will weight around 180-200 kilos, thanks to the 20 mm thick steel plate on the bottom and overdone steel casing on the wood log. But, If its worth doing, it's worth overdoing ;)

EDIT: Got the thing finished. Came out damn epic!
