Probably, because a hybrid recoils in one direction.
Would the same go up for a piston hybrid with a (+/-) 50 mm piston?
The piston gets slammed backwards first, moving the gun forward. Then it hits the bumper, giving a backwards thrust.
Between that the projectile starts moving, also giving backwards recoil.

I don't know when i'm able to start this project. Maybe I can start machining some parts in about 2 weeks :)

I will post some designs in a while...

Maybe it's not needed, but what do you like more, a 7 buck scope or homemade iron sights ? :)

I doubt it, in a springer the projectile recoil is insignificant - what you have is a piston driven by a heavy spring slamming into the breech, bouncing back, hitting the breech again until it stops. In your hybrid, any effect of the piston is going to be overshadowed by the projectile recoil so you have no worries in my opinion.

I still have to find materials. I have a source of chamber material, but I have to purchase tube for a barrel.

The gun will be about 2.30 meters long, and will have a bore of about 30 mm.

That's the same scope I have :)
The same I paid for it too. It's a good deal, in my opinion. Only trouble is like with all scopes, you have to be really close to the sight to actually see anything.

Depends on how much time I can spend on my own projects when I am in machining class.

I have to search for a barrel, it has to be seamless, and suitable to weld onto standard construction steel.
I haven't done anything yet, I only have to O-rings and chamber material.
This is a project I want to construct with a lot of care, to prevent the stupid mistakes that i've made on other cannons.

For recoil absorbtion I was thinking about a bipod with ground hooks, and a shock absorber from a moped or something in that direction.

I think it will be next schoolyear when I finish it. I hope I can make some parts for it in the next weeks.

I have to decide if i'm going for syringe metering (with a LARGE syringe :D) or manometric metering.
Syringe metering is the most attractive to me, because of the simplicity and portability.

The ignition system will probably be a camera flash circuit dumped trough an ignition coil.

I'd like to see the hardware specs on this...Being as how it's a Imac I fully expected it to be rammed up but that Solid State Hard Drive frees a lot of RAM to run the apps.

I'm not really a Imac fan but to see that happen is impressive!

It's not really a RAM thing. No matter how much or how fast your RAM is you still have to read the applications from the disk first.

BTW Tech, is this video aimed towards me? :roll: I would dearly like to add a SSD to my current build for the operating system and game files.

The SSD does not free up RAM. The programs still load in RAM from the hard drive. The SSD is random access and does not have to wait for the spinning platters to come under the read head and it does not have to wait for the head to move to the right track to do a read. That alone is what makes a SSD so much faster when pulling random data from many locations.

The i7 processes has 6 cores. Each core is dual threaded for a total of 12 parallel processes. This permits the very parallel operation of loading 12 aps at once in the same time a single core would load one app.

I got to see a server with 4 CPU chips in it run. It was a little more extreme. It had 4 multi threaded 10 core CPU's in it for a total of 40 cores and 80 threads. It was running some 3D modeling in Pov-Ray. A ray traced rendering that would take my machine a full weekend to complete, it did in about 30 seconds. It made my machine look like it was standing still.

The 10 core multi CPU servers is out of my price range. :( I think Google is getting a few.

I didn't aim the video at anyone in particular. I thought anyone interested in what I do for a living might be interested. This is a product of our R&D department. We make them run faster on less power.

We have a motto. Faster, Better, Cheaper! If we didn't make them cheaper, fewer would sell. Same if they were not faster and better.

Anyone running Sketchup, Autocad, Blender, mining Bitcoins, Folding at Home, or other CPU intense processes would enjoy that in addition to just gamers.
