Jrrdw, I have the 8x12 just like you. I have a 4" 3 jaw chuck with 3 mounting holes that came with the lathe. I had bought a 4" 4 jaw chuck, unknowingly, with 4 mounting holes. Then I discovered at some point in time that the 3 jaw could hold the 4 jaw chuck.
Just back out the jaws on the 3 jaw chuck until they almost fall out, then see if it'll fit.

CS, did you get outside jaws with yours? I did and they would grab it no problem. I'd like to get a treadmill motor and convert mine to varitable speed, other then changing the belt to another pulley.

A very close friend's birthday is near, so I thought I'd give him something cool.
So I'm making a 5mm smooth bore PCP pistol( probably will have a butt stock though).
Also made a kit to make 5mm lead pellets, all parts made from 32 OD aluminium cylinder, the cup for melting lead is bored out for the same cylinder, just to not wast the left overs

PS: sorry Jake, it's way more fun making this than your bolt

How did you make the cap for the schrader valve? What tap size did you use?

For the right price, you could get a better one

I ddin,t tap it myself, just used one of

Ah, same here
I also made a new one, 4.5mm
Now for a question, what vise do you all use for precise milling? I'm not very happy with my set up...
