As strange as it sounds, this actualy puts more strain on the motor. If you have access to a Kill-A-Watt power meter, you can see this loading directly. AC guys measure compressor power consumption as an indication of system performance.

Raising the amount of gas you compress, increases the burdon on the motor. It has to do with being a gas, not a liquid. Higher pressure is more stuff to compress. That takes more power even though the boost in pressure is less. It's like carying a lunch bag up two flights of stairs vs carying a refrigerator up one flight of stairs. The bigger heavier object is more work.

Higher pressure air is bigger/heavier to move unlike higher pressure liquids that remain the same volume.

oh right i realize that it would be harder. and it doesnt sound strange after someone explains it . also i just now remembered that its most likely not a pisotn compressor so there will be no extra pressure pushing the piston up. so it will be harder overall lol. well at least it will pump faster! and i can get a meter so i just might have to check and see just how much harder it pumps

~1.5" to the rear of the slug in the maple.(Roughly 2.7" total penetration) Range was 20 yards.

Can I get away with a 3" access cap to my metered combustion? I only need it for occasional cleaning of backfire and maybe venting. Is it worth the extra £10 to get a 4" cap?

Well, the main pilot is the QEV you can see in the picture. The pilot's pilot is still going to be the same sleeve/slide valve from when I first made it three years ago. (I'm surprised it's that long ago, but I first made it in May 2007).

As and when I've actually cut space for it in the stock, that is.

That's gonna be a little awkward to trigger in the stock don't you think? I was thinking more of a blowgun modded to fit in the slot where the trigger would go...

Finally, something "new" Tactical black eventually or are you going for the "steampunk" look?

No, I don't think. I just wing it and hope nothing catches fire.

More sensibly, there is a rather useful machine called a router which can quite easily do that. Between that and a Dremel, it's not the hardest job. Theoretically, it's doable just with hand tools.

However, I've done some rebuild work on the valve, safety and breech loader, which should improve flow. I've also tweaked the pump a little, so I should be able to push pressures to 25 bar.

I've been accumulating targets and projectiles for a while now, so there should be a new video, although when it is will depend on whether I finish the build before heading away on this year's narrowboat cruise.

I'm planning on going steampunk. I can't paint things like the barrel anyway (the breech loader would scrape it off), so there's going to be some bare copper whatever I do.

Also, it doesn't need to look threatening (painting it black would probably do that) and in many ways, it's better if it doesn't.

Can i ask how you managed to epoxy (I'm guessing) the Dovetails on to what looks like 15mm copper? I always have big trouble when trying to mount my scope.

Finally does anyone have any other idea how i could mount the scope?
