Two things
1. Wrong section, this is SHOWCASE not DISCUSSION.
2. Use the SEARCH function and the WIKI

by origin unknown
A burst disk is a piece of burstable airtight material such as aluminum foil or rubber that is placed inside a pipe union that will eventually burst once the pressure in the chamber reaches the bursting pressure of burst disk. Burst disks are mainly used on pneumatics and hybrids, but are sometimes used with combustions fitted right after the chamber which increases the performance a bit. A hybrid cannon is a cross between a combustion and a pneumatic. It uses a burst disk to hold a set amount of pressure in and propane is injected into the chamber. Spark powered by a piezo or other electrical ignition systems ignites the fuel/air mix and this creates wild pressures that can reach over 500 psi depending on what your fuel/air mix is. This enourmous amount of pressure ruptures a burst disk made from aluminum cans or other things and this sends the pressurized gas pushing the projectile out the barrel at around or over the speed of sound. These types of cannons are usually built out of steel fittings. Do not build one if you do not know what you are doing either!

Why tell him? He needs to learn that you can get these answers in the Wiki - it's there for a reason.
