my guess is the reason you cant find a chronometer is because they dont exist... i think you mean a chronograph, in fact im sure of it. you can get them on ebay for about $50ish dollers.

A watch is a chronograph.
Search for a shooting/shooters chronograph like Hi just mentioned.

Found some up to 7000fps, ah wouldn't that be lovely 8)
Any idea of the fastest speeds recorded with an inline combustion?
Thanks again for your help.

have a look
here, perfectly adequate for your spudgun needs.
You won´t be needing measurements over 1,500 fps.

Jack's link is good.
FYI, the term that'll give you a many hits on google, ebay etc is "chrony" or "shooting chrony".
"Chrony" is a trademark (
http://www.shootingchrony.com/) for a very common shooting chronometer. Chrony makes excellent devices and an old beat up one from ebay is definitely worth considering if $$$ is an issue.
Occasionally you'll see big lots (5 or 10 chronys) show up on ebay. Apparently, paintball fields have several and when the field goes out of business the chronys all get sold together.

Or maybe if you were on a first name basis with them at a paintball field they would let you just fire a couple rounds through one?
Check Midway USA. It's a shooting supply company, and they have some RCBS ones for about $80 new. I finally got a gun, and when I get the money for a press and dies for reloading I will need a chronograph.
