would a chamber volume double the volume of the barrel be good or do i need more?

It should suffice for a large-ish calibre project, what pressures are you planning on running at and what's your barrel diameter?

i am going to use 1" abs for the barrel and chambers tbarrel will be 1m long and chambers also 1m long

That will give you good power given a good enough valve, one problem though is the use of ABS for the chambers. It's fine for the barrel, but unless you're going to stick to pressures below 50 psi it's highly recommended you go for pressure rated PVC.

the abs is pressure rated to 9 bars which is about 130psi i think

132.3 psi if we're going to be pedantic

hehe but as long as it's pressure rated, go for it

it was just an estimate i couldn't remeber the exact figure from the website i am planning to buy the pipe from

Pressure rated ABS is one of the best spudgun materials there is. Congratulations on finding a place to get it.
You will need a fast valve with such a short barrel though.

A modded 1" sprinkler valve will suffice.

will an un-modded one work because i want a electronic safety.

what length would you recommend for an unmodded 1" sprinkler valve.

Well, if it is practical, and you are running it at normal pressures, I would extend the barrel until it has about 4x the volume of the chamber, to make the most of the available power.

The entire thing is only 1.86 MB. That's hardly anything.
