I was looking for more stuff on the lagality of potato gun in my state (hint-mountaneers-hint) and I stumbled upon this article on the cbs news website. So, is this old news to you guys?
And is there any limit to the stupid things people will do?

Never seen it before(but heard the story), though some people probably have, being it's a very old article. Generally if you are allowed to fire a shotgun in your area, you should be allowed to fire a potato gun.

I also found this, more moronic things to do with potato guns.
We should just post articles and such here about what NOT to do with spud guns.

"Frog boy" is a bit of a legend on this forum :D
Berry was shot in the face, looking down the barrel of a home-built contraption called a spud gun. When it fired a frog, it blinded him.
This is the sort of thing that REALLY grinds my gears, why can't the bleedin' media say it like it is? Berry wasn't a poor innocent victim attacked by an evil PVC contraption. Berry was a [front bottom] that shot himself i nthe face, there's no two ways about it.

If a guy would have shot himself with a handgun on accident, it would have been labeled nothing more than a careless accident.
I'm sure no one would be out to ban handguns for that reason/

Au contraire, the media loves this sort of reporting - that's why the slogan "guns don't kill people, people do" and "blaming a gun for murder is like blaming a pencil for spelling mistakes" exist.

Yep, that is the ridiculous world we live in today! Nobody wants to admit that they were being a dumbass, they would rather blame it on something or someone else!!! Yeah lets sue them!!! that will fix everything!!!

The news loves to cast bad light on anything that could possibly be dangerous for some reason. It probably just makes more money that way. I think it is a little suspicious that they never mention the fact that the kid ignited the gun. What jerks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the kind of stuff that gets spudguns, airsoft guns, fireworks, real guns, and all sorts of other things banned!!! FOR GOODNESS SAKE PEOPLE STOP THIS!!!

This is why everyone is so prejudice against guns and stuff, because of the media, and fricken gov propaganda!!! People these days are so obsessed with safety, and silence (ie fireworks debates) and have so little real knowledge about the things they are so against.

This is the kind of stuff that brings those "silent" firework advocates in, and those people who say, lets ban this, because we are too stupid to understand or use it properly!!! When will people realize that guns and fireworks don't just randomly blow up or shoot? They act as if a gun will fire as soon as you touch it, and that it will just happen to be aimed at you when it does!!!

AAAAAAUGHGUGHGUGHGUGHUGUGHG!!!!!!!!

Wow, He looked down the barrel, well I feel really sorry for him but looking down the barrel. That's pretty damn stupid.

Wait, did he load a frog in the barrel and shoot it? I assumed a "frog," was just slang for "it misfired and blew up in his face."

Yes there was a frog in the barrel.

No, there really was a frog in the barrel. I feel kind of sorry for the frog, its a shame that the guy couldn't have just blown his face off with a non-living projectile.

He put a real frog in a gun? What an @$$hole!
I think he got what he deserved for not fallowing saftey and being a douche bag to animals, although I do feel kind of sorry for him. Still, he did give more bad press to the spudgun community, so he remains as d1ck in my book. If there was ever any evidence of karma, here it is.
They should have said something like "The Frog had an American Dream too..."

Thank god he didn't grow up to be an air force pilot liked he wanted, cause clearly he lacked any common sense.
And my grandfather was telling me that when he grew up, he and his friends would shoot each other with bb guns (no eye protection), play with fireworks and dynamite, and when a kid got hurt no matter how bad, his parents, friends and adults would say "you got hurt, you were a dumbass, learn from it." They actually enforced common sense and learning from midtakes (which if you made were your own f*ckin fault), good god!
How horrible it was back then, that the little kiddies with they're fragile little minds weren't protected from themselves. And look how far we've come now, people try to ban sh*t and people still get hurt from the stuff that has already been banned (like they always have and always will), looks like its workin real well fellas!
Maybe they should try banning stupidity, that would solve a lot of the problems right there, except that would mean the majority of the media and politicians would go to jail, but that would probably be a good thing.

Here here, if we keep on wrapping the youth of the nation in cotton wool we're going to raise western nations full of pussies, good luck resisting foreign invasion then.
