Hi All, just wanted your suggestions ideas and opinions on this cannon I'm starting to make.

It is basically a sprinkler valve cannon, with an under over construction, and a stock with shell holding thingy and barrel. No air goes into the stock, so don't tell me that, because the pipe goes right the way there the T that connects the stock. The sprinkler valve will be modded, it is from memory a garden mate, 25mm solenoid i think. don't think it has guide rod, which i have been told is good.

I have made a few designs, and all up it is going to cost me around $80 bucks, but thats why I'm running it threw here first, i'd rather take my time and make a really good cannon, then waste 80 bucks and it turns out to be a piece of crap and ends up in the trash.


Here's a little list of things i need:

1x Sprinkler Valve ($20)

1x Pressure rated 2 inch (0.5m) ($5)
1x 1m ½ (15mm) inch pipe ($2.23)
1x 2 inch coupling ($2.55)
1x 2 inch x 1 inch bush reducer ($4.53)
1x Stubby tire valve (pressure rated to 400 Psi) (Free)


Already Got:

4x ¾ inch 90 degree Elbows
2x ¾ inch Tee
4x ¾ inch 45 Degree Elbows
6x ½ inch end caps
Sprinkler valve adaptors +
other bits to make it attach barrel + chamber 1x 2 inch reducer to 25mm
1x 2m ¾ inch pipe
1x 1m ½ (15mm) inch pipe
PVC 125ml Pressure rated Glue
PVC Primer


any suggestions, feedback, constructive criticism is welcome.

anyway, i see no problem with that. i would use a QEV, but thats just me and my sadistic love for overpowered cannons..........

It looks like it would be fun to shoot. I would suggest breech loading. Also, a thread was posted not too long ago about adding backspin to marbles. It should increase range.

Other than that, It looks like a very neat design. Will the handle interfere with the piping like it does in the diagram? If so, that problem could be easily solved.

Yeah cheers, um yeah i needa figure a way to make a good breech load, was thinking of having a bolt action loading system, and make it so the marbles are in shells, so put the shell in fire, open it, but is there a way to make it spring out? if not wont matter much

And no the handle will not interfere, this diagram isnt to scale really, but if it does interfere, ill use 2 90 degree brass elbows to make it stick out to the side.

I like the first one better. For some reason, it appeals to me more (I like the look of a 45 degree elbow).

Newb had a pretty neat breech loader. Maybe you could make that work for you.

Id go for the first design (top)......
You should use 20mm poly pipe as your barrel, it fits marbles pretty well (with a little wadding)....

Yeah, i'm a bit confused with pipe size's, my fittings says 3/4 inch 20mm, so ill take the parts to my local hardware store, and find the pipe that fits it, then ill take a marble, and find a good barrle, and then find the fittings i want to make it attach to my sprinkler valve

btw i liked the 1st design to, just bottem design costs less im a little low on cash atm, so hopefull will have all the money and spent it on the parts with in the next 2-3 weeks.

i know for my marble cannon i use 1/2 inch copper as a barrel and the mid-size marbles for ammo. like not the 16mm marbles, but the 14mm ones. sometimes they fit down the barrel perfectly, sometimes they dont fit at all.

basically, 1/2 inch copper is the way to go. and plus, i can hit a 12'X12 foot peice of plywood from 150 feet (and blow a hole in it)............

another thing is dont expect amazing accuracy. these are tater cannons......

as for a muzzle brake (whats a sexy gun without one? lol) 1/2 inch PVC, ground down a little bit, fits right over 1/2 inch copper. makes a sweet muzzle brake if you drill some holes in it........

anyway im looking foward to this. and mabey ill have to post the Barret 14mm V2 now that ive got my mind on it........

Hahahaha Lol, nah i might just stick to PVC, what do you mean "dont expect amazing accuracy"? Would it be able to hit a glass bottel from 30m away? if the barrel is approx 80cm?

I made a little design alteration.......
The 1st design is only like $3 more then the 2nd...
3/4" is 20mm, aussies go by mm).....1/2" is 15mm......1" is 25mm etc etc.........
I think you might just be better off having all you fittings 25mm instead of 20mm..its just a bit less hassel with getting the male adapters to attach the sprinkler valve....

Mmmm you have a point, cept i might keep the stock 20mm (3/4") but buy an adaptor, ive only spent like 6 bucks so far (4 corners, and 2 t peices) so changing to 1 inch wont make much of a diff, but it will cst more.... so im going to work it out when im next at bunnings, which is cheaper: Going 1" or going 3/4" and buying the adaptors for the vlave. Then ill make my decision. and also ill probs be going with the bottem design, One reason. I was laying out the parts i have atm, and 2" will be close to the sprinkler valve by going by the bottem design, if i go with the top design, it will hit the sprinkler valve.

EDIT: Sorry the pic you attached didnt come up before yeah i like that design, except i dont want the pressure going into the stock so, how would i block of the T?

What dimensions are you looking at (i.e. chamber length, etc)? Provide the chamber length and the data can be put into GGDT.

As far as accuracy goes, it isn't going to be .50bmg accurate but with some altercations, it can be accurate enough to do what you want.

First, find a barrel that will fit your ammo. Maybe the barrel can be rifled (idk, you may can ). Also, like I suggested earlier, add backspin. This will cause the marble to constantly spin in one direction (spinning up, also adding distance), whereas it may spin towards the left on one shot, then down on the second shot, thus affecting accuracy.

Um i was thinking of having my chamber 25-30cm then plus the corner pieces and them bit (air will get sotred in the corner bits if you know wht i mean) and barrel, not sure whats good size 80cm???
