has anyone made a gun like this? I just thought that it would look kind of cool. I am about to go to lowes so i might get the stuff and make it. i already have the 2 inch piston and the 4inch pipe.

It would work but I would be worried about the recoil from firing a heavy object all being directed against the one lone piece of pipe connecting the base to the barrel. I had a 2inch elbow blow up when I fired a heavy load of nails out of my cannon so thats my two cents.

On the money.

You should always make an effort to minimize stress on the pressurized parts. It would look good, but probably not the best thing to do.

When Eugene Stoner designed the m16, he first took note of the problems the m14 had due to its shape. The m14's stock was below the barrel to improve the ease of aiming, but at the same time, the recoil of the rifle then caused the whole thing to pivot because of how the stock would transfer the recoil. He took note of this and put the stock of the m16 inline with the barrel to directly transfer the recoil and prevent pivoting. He then just raised the sight to fix to put it line with the shooter's eye.

Apply this same concept to your spud gun. You want to try to eliminate the pivoting effect which would put stress on the elbow/tee connecting the chamber to the barrel. Make sure the recoil will be absorbed directly and there will be no stress that could lead to failure.

ok thanks a lot. I looked at the parts for it today. and i didn't realize that a 4in elbow is 9 dollars. the only guns have have had to buy parts for were 2 inch and 1/2inch and they are pretty cheap.
I am going to redesign it a little.

If you give it a it more barrel support it should be fine.

Yeah, you are gona want to support the barrel better. BTW, what did you use to make the diagram?

But I have heard of the joining T exploding because of the stress. You would need some pretty heavy duty supports to the barrel to keep it in place when fireing

Why would this have any more stress then the mega launcher or the SWAT gun it is basically the same except for the chambers connect
