I accidentally glued a non pw part onto the input of my sprinkler valve. Technically, the only part of the valve that would have pressure is the purple part, because the rest is either underneath the sprinkler valve or around a 1" pressure rated pvc pipe. I am pretty sure that this is an unacceptable situation, because of the large pressures it will experience. Is there something that I can mold around the part to make it alright? (Like smother it in epoxy or something like that). Thanks for your help.

sand it down till the entire lenth fits into a pipe securely. cement the pipe over and you shold be fine. Is that a threaded fitting that you solvent welded?

You can try useing a hack saw blade and cut 2 slices just through the adapter and crack it out. If you have a dremal you can grind it out or, get a rasp/bur on a shank and use a drill to grind it out.

It is a threaded fitting, twisted into the valve and (unfortunatly) glued. So if I sand it down until it fits into a pipe, and fill the cracks with epoxy, you think it'll be ok? I don't know if that will be more difficult than trying to take it out and put another in.

Why did you glue a threaded fitting? just crew it in with teflon tape and your good to go. Yes i think it will be fine, if you sleeve it properly and prime and cemcent the sleeve. good luck

thanks... I never actually realized that you can just use teflon tape on a threaded piece of pvc. Thanks ppl.

That's a 1" fitting? Well this I know for a 1" pressure rated fitting, but I think that 1 1/2" pipe fits pretty much perfectly around it.

With a bit of sanding, of course, but it's almost a fit already, don't take off too much.
