i have made a numb er of darts out of nails and electrical tape but the longer ones dont seem to fly very straight. please post pics of your darts so i can get an idea.

The point of a dart's shape is that the increased drag from the lightweight tail will stabilize it. If you use longer nails with the same size cone for the tail, then the cone is not providing enough drag to stabilize the projectile.
Just make the tail longer.

if you read it trough, you will notce that i have made somewhat of a guide on how to make those darts. The tail is made from milkjug

These are mine I made a while ago, the cones were made of thin cardboard with a nail and some hot glue.
