Heya guys,

I'm a bit confused. I just recently through away my piston because it was real abraceive and kinda squishy. I found one of my old hot glue pistons in my box and saw that it glides very easy and is very very hard compared to the other one. I have no idea how it could have gotten that way because i make my pistons the same way. Except this could be one of the ones i stuck in the freezer or just let to cool in room tempurature... I'm not sure

Does anyone know on how to make hard glue pistons?

Well usually i let mine sit for a day or a little less and then i push it out of the mold and it usually stays hard. Idk how a freezer would make it squishy.

i put mine in the freezer and it dries in about 5 minutes and is fairly hard. i put it in a zip lock bag though so i dont get it on anything i might eat later.

Haha no, the freezer might have been what hardened the hard piston Im talking about.

Add different things into the hot glue,like iron oxide powder which i used in some of my pistons and for some reason they seem harder.

I also made my pistons by putting them in the freezer and some without and the ones in the freezer seem to always stay harder for longer,anyone care to explain?

Yeah man thats the same thing as what happened to me. I'd like to know why the hell the cold makes the pistons hard aswell

When you heat metal and cool it quickly it gets harder,but I don't think thats the same with hot glue,but hey you never know.

Try adding some iron oxide powder to your mix or make an epoxy piston.

Or you can just cast your pistons out of epoxy

Maybe rapid cooling of the molten glue causes stronger bonds between the molecules.

I would add about 1-3rd model car type plastic in and stir it really good. Hows that sound???

Hmm...I think that hot glue piston could be used as bumber and seal?Because the surface is soft.But the surface in hot glue piston is not so soft like in bicycle inner tube ,so will it be tight enough?

Yea its tight enough to work as a piston, as long as you molded it right, i use it as a piston in my first piston valve cannon and it still works wonders
