Dual Valves

I have two sprinkler valves sitting around and I have a large section of both 2" PVC and 3/4" CPVC, so my plan is to make a chamber out of the two inch stuff and then with a cross have dual sprinkler valves connect to a paintball barrel above. Any ideas on whether the dual setup will net me any performance over a single valve?

according to my ggdt, yes it will, you will get a whole 10 fps increase!!! i say go for it.

10 fps increase?? Oh man I am so going for it now. Now the tricky part will be finding a 2 inch cross.

Your flow rate will already be restricted by your 3/4 " barrel porting so you wont be able to dump the chamber any faster by using 2 valves instead of one assuming they are 1" sprinkler valves.....Probably not worth wasting an extra valve for this setup.....Do this on a larger cannon.

Yes they are 1" valves and I am at the point where I gonna pull the American style of building and since it cant hurt performance I am going to go ahead with it.

Well it wont hurt since you already have the valves , give it a go.... It will look impressive Im sure.

With a 1" valve on a 3/4" barrel I really doubt two valves will shoot any faster, as presumably with a 1" valve you already have maximum flow for your barrel diameter - but I understand, you're American, go ahead

I agree with Jack on this ......The second valve would be better utilized if you incorporate it into a double or multiple barrel design...I have made manifolds using five 3/4" barrels and fire 75 paintballs a shot by loading 15 balls in each barrel...Very intimidating on a paintball field to say the least.

but just think about how much more it hurts to have a paintball hit you at a full 10 feet per second faster...

For an energy gain of about 0.25 ft/lbs, hardly worth the effort...

Well , I dont think I would want to be hit with a paintball shot from either one of the two cannons.....Getting hit with one @300 feet per second hurts and leaves a mark.......500 feet per second leaves a hole......I still think I would rather get hit with 1 than 75 though....the lesser of 2 evils.

If an extra sprinkler valve will provide about 10fps extra to the shot, and piston valves are better, how much performance would be gained from two piston valves on the same launcher, provided they are synchronized?
Say, 1.5" piston with the same setup.

10 fps extra over a velocity of say 500 feet per second is only a 2% increase in velocity and 4% increase in muzzle energy, so it really isn't that dramatic.
how much performance would be gained from two piston valves on the same launcher, provided they are synchronized?
Increasing the flow more than the flow of a 3/4" barrel will have no benefit - what you need is faster opening time. Technically, using 2 valves means you're doubling the rate of flow increase, but in practive using a small fast opening piston valve is a better and easier idea than using two large ones.
