How paintball guns work.

This site was posted on Arnie's Airsoft, and I thought it might be useful for pneumatics builders. It shows a selection of animations of the mechanics of different types of paintball gun.

I just knew you'd like it.

That reminds me, I need to do my auto combustion animation.

Wow, great find! Do you think a home-made version of this is possible?

I foresee a JSR steel and epoxy regulator...

Possible, but I'd use something like my simpler regulator design:

It's not influenced by the high pressure on the valve, and will be a lot more reliable because there is less work to do and it's not exactly complex work.

I'm a big believer in not reinventing the wheel, and studying the solutions others came up with helps a lot. You should be of course willing to discard all previous research and start from scratch, but at least you'll know for sure that you're not wasting time acquiring data that is already available.
If the good lady gives me some time off from domestic DIY I'll take the time to study them in detail
edit: Ragnarok, that's similar to the principle behind my
cartridge fed pneumatic, without the cartridges of course
I had also though up something like
this with an electric motor driving an eccentric cam that reloaded the ammo. Never built it though.

It's a good page.
I've been studying it for months personally. Theres a downloaded copy of the whole webpage + expanded animations on my hard drive.
I'm still on the search for the holy grail of the no-dead-space bolt.
Or at least the minimalistic dead space bolt (without having to have the bolt travel miles)
I'm stuck at the dead-space-equal-to-the-volume-of-the-projectile bolt
Unless of course you articulate the whole dam barrel which isn't very appealing tbh.

I don't think it gets much better than that Hotwired. You either have bolt dead space, or you move the whole barrel.
And I completely forgot to mention that was a reg design.

I figured it was a reg, lol. Great design though! I think I am better off buying a reg, as I am dealing with C02 tank pressures of up to 800 psi. I don't think I have the tools to machine steel.
