Well lads,

Looks like I've fixed the constant problem thats plagued me since I first got into small bore high pressure guns, the sealing face always coming off. I went to a place in Brisbane called Clark Rubber and bought a few rubber door stop thingo's. They were in a cone shape and way too big so I just machined it down on my bench grinder and came up with a solid rubber piston. Since I put it in, I'm yet to have a single problem with it. When lubed up, it is extremely smooth and slides very, very well. Probably the best out of anything I've tried for a piston. Even at 300psi with 100 shots fired, the barrel doesn't cut into it at all. It's just perfect. I'm using it in my 6mm mounted pump bb gun. Yesturday I shot it at 300psi and geeez....at that pressure, the ammo pisses through anything! It's great.

I don't think I'll ever go back to my previous piston materials, just no point. To me, this is as good as it gets .

Definately. It just saves so many hours in the shed ripping your hair out trying to get something to work.

My problem is that most of the air is going out the pilot valve instead of out the barrel. I have a new piston finished and ready to try, but I'll wait till tomorrow to fire up the compressor so neighbors/parents aren't annoyed It looks like a great piston, hope it works! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Ahh yes that was one of the problems I had... How piston guns can irritate and annoy!

nice! I was working on my piston for my bb rifle yesterday, and I was thinking of doing something like that. did anyone ever play with legos?

I went into my basement looking for a piston that fits in 3/4 inch pipe, amid in my $1200 of legos I dont use anymore.

hooray for lego! possibly the most useful thing ever invented! i must have a look at my old lego at some point, there may be something useful iding in there.

I cut/broke some of the length off the back to make it fit better, too.

the rims for the crawler track thingies fit good too.


oh, btw, just lube it, and jam it in there. it seals so well, you may want to poke a little equalization hole in the edge of the front.

you may want to try to take the ridge out of the inside of the pipe /w/ a round file, and a little off the inside of the threaded edges.
