Air rifle pellet length?

i need to know what length .22 air rifle pelets are specifically crossmen accupells (because they are nice and light) which i wil probably use in my 6mm 'sniper' to get some more power

Accupells are 8.25mm long, on average medium weight pellet length is around 1.5 times their width.

thanks they should squeeze into my rotating bolt loading system then which has an 8mm hole

if they don't fit, you can always buy flatheads as they tend to be shorter

yeah that was my backup plan but i want domed or ponted because i assume they have a batter drag coeffecient? and i probably would have adapted my design to allow for use of domes or pointed if it wasn't already suitable.

Only if you fry them

Flatheads are mostly used for short range target shooting where drag isn't really an issue, or hunting small game in enclosed spaces as they tend to be devastating on live targets close up - so in aerodynamic terms, you're best off with domed pellets.

oh no i gave away my embarrasing secret and i am planning trying to get maximium range so domes pellets it is. A little bird told me that airsoft bbs have a drag coefficient of 0.47 and air rifle pellets about half of that so i am hoping than i should be able to get 100 yards with an accupell.

you'll get it to 100 yards, but as to actually hitting anything smaller than a barn door, I have my doubts.

well i will have to prove you wrong then i reckon something about A3 paper size could be hittable and if i can do that i may try at 120 yards but i will have to wait a while to try because i need to go down to my grandpa's because he has enough land to do it on.

I can hit an A3 sheet of paper at 120 yards with my Daystate with a 16 power scope, though that's about as much accuracy asI can guarantee. At 50 yards the same rifle can put pellet upon pellet through the same hole. I don't think you full appreciate the difficulty of shooting light subsonic projectiles at such long range.

yes i do understand how difficult it will be but its a challenge and i like challenges and i also like bragging and i will gain bragging rights from doing it

Good luck then I'm not saying it's impossible, but unlikely. At my airgun club where most 0.22 PCPs fire at 35-25 ft/lbs, hitting a balloon at 120 yards is considered to be an achievement - if you can do that with your project, kudos, but forgive me for being sceptical ;p

what size ballon... a hot air ballon? i could hit that with ease from 120 yards 8)
