Should i get this Portable Inflator

I was looking at this battery operated pump that they sell at home depot. http://www.cpocampbellhausfeld.com/infl ... 000rb.html It seems like it would be very practical and cheap for me seeing as i dont have plugs where i shoot stuff. I dont expect it to be powerful or last forever, but the my only concern is obviously how fast will it pump. I would most likely use it for a chamber of 1.5" pvc 24" long. I did some equations and found that it would get it to around 120psi in 15-20 secs. Im not sure if i did this right though so you can check my math if you want. It says it pump .38 SCFM at 30 psi and the volume of said chamber is 47.67cubic inches=.0275cubic feet.

Alright... does anyone think this pump will in fact be ridiculously slow? Or... do you think im being a dweeb and i should just buy it?!

Remember that the flow rate is .38SCFM at 30 psi. As pressure increases, the flow rate will decrease.

The pump will likely overheat quickly, perform unreliably, and deliver a lower flow rate than advertised (which is already absurdly low). I don't have any experience with this particular product, so I can't tell you for sure. I'm just stating how this type of device usually performs.

It'll work for a little while, they never seem to last long if you use them regularly.

Personally, I would suggest that you spend your money building a stirrup pump. You will get more pressure, and the batteries will not go dead.

There has been a "flurry" of pump building activity lately. Just have a look around. :)

It probally would take a while but it wouldn't burn up or an thing. it should be suffciant.

Don't buy it. If you can make a pump, otherwise buy one of ebay or something.

I have bad experiances with pumps like those. The one I got overheated and stopped working within two weeks.
It worked great and pumped to the pressure advertised with moderate flow until it broke :(

Gippeto, this whole homemade pump revolution, occured after i independently designed a homemade pump built into a marble rifle (which you commented on.) I posted it thinking that it was innovative and not many others had tried to do the same thing. That was until.. you posted your pump a day or two later-I stained my panties, and it made mine quite stale in comparison- i havent touched it since. Its just irritating that all this flurry of pump building started after i designed mine.

I really quite sick of pumping after every shot anyways, so i was looking for a quick fix. I know it wont last long, but its only $40 and it has a warranty for probably at least a month. Supposedly it has a built in fan to prevent overheating and ill try to keep the battery well charged. But my real question is how low is that scfm in comparison?

I can't speak for others, but if you recall, you were having problems with your pump. I was going to help you and asked you to assemble a list of the tools you had available to you.

The pump that I posted was designed at that time, with you in mind. You never answered, so I went ahead, built it and posted it. In a round-about way, you are responsible for that pump coming to be. :)

If you are really tired of pumping, then go ahead and buy the compressor.

With wasted volume in the hose, etc. you would be looking at something in the order of 40 pump strokes to fill the chamber you described to 120 psi. A larger diameter pump would of course, speed this up.
