co2 tanks for paintball use 5/8-18UNF-2B threads, if you are talking about the co2 tanks for beer kegs such as a 5lb or 10lb tank, they use 1.125-12UNF-2B threads.

What he said.

Seriously, assuming you aren't building a very high pressure system, the easiest way to do what you want is to just buy a CO2 regulator. It'll have the threads you want on both the front and the back (well, typically it'll have 1/8" NPT, but you can go up easy enough).

what I'm trying to do is use an open fitting and use the check valve on the co2 tank as a hammer valve for the gun.

Funny I asked the same question earlier and all I got was...we know but we aren't telling.....

Your dealing with a lot of pressure in one of those Co2 tanks you might want to do as they suggest and get a decent CO2 regulator and play it on the safe side.
