ghetto gun

This may not be the most ghetto gun on this site, but you have to admit it is pretty ghetto.
It is made of a coke bottle for the chamber, a pringles can for the barrel, and a modded sprinkler valve. since the valve was free, all I had to buy was the blow gun and schrader valve, so this is an 8 dollar gun.
I built this for fun and because I am broke for a while. There is nothing like playing fetch with the dog using an air compressor and very little muscle.

Pretty ghetto. How did you attach the pringles can to the valve? How far does it shoot? It doesn't really look bad except for the ghetto part.

To attach the pringles can I cut a hole in the bottom. then I threaded a male pvc adapter through the hole into the valve. it is tough to explain it in words, but I hope you got that.
I shot it and we measured about 130 feet at 90 psi, but I dont wanna take it any higher than that.
To tell the truth, I made it look ghetto on purpose. gotta love the ghetto.

how well do the tennis balls fit?

the tennis balls fit fairly good since I sleeved another pringles can inside of the main pringles can. about 1/8 inch clearance. any tighter and I would risk blowing out the cheap and flimsy barrell.

I love it, it's the kinda gun that looks so harmless the cops wouldn't even take it off you. Maybe you could upgrade to a 2lt bottle and add another pringles can or a postage tube.

wow, that's really cool. Reminds me of a ghetto cannon my dad told me he made in college (70's) consisting of coke cans and duct tape.
I'm going to post that gun in a new topic soon.
Make it a 2 liter instead, otherwise excellent work!

Y'know what, I think this is darned refreshing. Back in the day(before PVC pipe), if you wanted to launch things, you'd use anything you had on hand. Beer(or soda) cans, when they still had roll-crimped tops, tennis ball cans, and lots and lots of duct tape. Just imagine using lighter fluid and duct tape-wrapped stacks of empty cans w/ the tops/bottoms cut out. There's certainly a rush to be had. I say, Bravo!!!

pretty ghetto, but looks kinda dangerous, to you I mean, Using a coke bottle at 90 psi? Not safe at all. Otherwise, nice work, it will help you keep a low profile lol

It is safe, I've hydrotested them at 110 psi+ for several hours. As long as you don't go to hard on them it's fine.
