CO2 and various parts??

Hey all, I'm building a t-shirt launcher for my school, and it'll be running off of co2. question is how well will these parts handle co2??
1" sprinkler valve or 3/4" QEV- i would think the QEV would be able to handle it but what about the sprinkler valve? This will be used to pilot the piston- i think i might go wtih the QEV they are faster actuating correct?
-4" PVC fittings- shouldn't be a problem i don't think, it'll all be mcmaster NSF61 which someone told me is pressure rated.
popoff valve- would that be able to freeze up??
Thanks guys,

I use C02 with my 1" sprinkler valve and have no problems. Everything I have read says the piston valve is the fastest then it's the QEV and then the modded sprinkler valve.

didnt see you mention regulator.

yea well i meant for piloting- would the 1" sprinkler or QEV be faster. i'm gonna go with QEV i think.
regulator- well thats why i buy a CO2 regulator... so i don't have to worry about it..

I meant piloting too. YES the QEV would be faster than a 1" sprinkler vavle even if it is modded, from what I have read, but my modded 1" works real good. I have a C02 regulator also.

does your 1" sprinkler hold up good to the CO2?? Any cracking or anything?

It holds up perfect. I have run 150 psi through it a few times. A few more times at 120 and a lot of times at 90 psi which is pretty much standard for me to run.

Have a look at SpudGunExtreme:

I talk to the guy quite a bit and he just made a new CO2 cannon, I think he has two or three now.
I'd go with the valve with the highest flow, which is probably the sprinkler. And yeah a pop-off will be fine.

Good to know that a QEV has a low flow!

What? Well a 3/4" QEV is smaller then a 1" sprinkler, so one would automatically assume that the sprinkler has the highest flow, which is what you want with a larger barrel.
Though the QEV opens faster. I wouldn't be surprised if the QEV has a similar flow to the sprinkler, even if it is smaller. The faster opening of the QEV might make up for it and be a better choice then the sprinkler.

QEVs have superior flow above sprinklers....
But since QEVs are usually smaller (1/4"up to 1", while sprinklers go 1/4" up to 2") ofcourse they have less flow.
Smaller valve, less flow.
But when youve got a QEV and sprinkler of the same size, the QEV surely has the most flow.
It is generally accepted that a 3/4" QEV has the same flow of a 1" sprinkler.
On top of that all: QEVs open way faster.
(Quick Exhuist Valves, they are made for it)
