using pvc with high pressure CO2?

Hey all, for my lever action and pump action shotguns, (yes you heard right)
I'm hoping to use PVC as the barrel and cartridges, but my only question is about the pressure. Since the gas (at 400 or 500 psi or so, ) is only being dumped into the PVC, it should be okay right?
Please correct me if I'm wrong

As long as, by PVC, you really mean ABS, copper, steel, brass, lead, bronze or aluminum, yes, it will be fine.
You wouldn't seriously use pipe with extremely low impact resistance, a very small safe operating temperature range, and extremely dangerous failure characterstics as pressure bearing parts on a very cold, constantly shocked CO2 vessel, would you?

well........ i was only asking because i think goathunter used PVC on his MCS, and that's unregulated CO2, so i was just asking to confirm that.
if its not PVC, it looks extremely like it.

unregulated co2 pressure is more like 850 psi or more depending on temperature.
oh and goathunter only used pvc for the barrel.

yea that's all i plan on using it for. I just wanted to be sure it would be ok.
Wait... you guys thought i would be dumb enough to use PVC as a chamber with high pressure CO2 ??i'm not that stupid
Thanks a lot..(lol)..
so it should be alright then.. if goathunter uses it on his and it hasn't blown up yet i'm assuming its safe and will move ahead with it

No, I was talking about the barrel. A PVC barrel failing would be very unpleasant, and the very low temperatures and shock loading certainly wouldn't help it any. What diameter of barrel are you using, and why don't you just use copper?

3/4 pvc as a barrel that is not seals should work.

im not using copper, because i'm building this gun for a friend, and he wants PVC cuz its cheaper. I've been trying to talk him into copper because its safer, but he's a stubborn guy. i'll keep trying to talk to him.
David- what do you mean by is not seals?

as in you cant have a plug or anything that fits too tightly as ammo.. Also you cant have an end cap or anything like that on your barrel...
3/4 pvc can only be used at those pressures if it is the following:
It is a barrel that doesnt have any super tight fitting ammo
It pretty much needs an area for the gases to escape.

I use pvc in the new barrel for my hybrid, its 1in in size and I have taken it uo to 7x(~700psi) without failure so i would say that you are fine.
