is it better to use a spring behind the piston or shreader vavle ??

which one work better?

Air pressure is far greater then the force a spring usually applies.
If springs were more powerful to acuate pistons, then we would have seen alot of spring-actuated pistons by now, wich isnt the case.

I use a spring in my cannon for 2 reasons. 1) To aid in resealing. 2) As a bumper. I adjust the tension by adding a piece of wooden dowel inbetween the sprinkler valve and spring, the wood also protects the sprinkler valve. The spring is bolted to the back of the piston to keep it centered in the pilot chamber.

Indeed, for reseating a spring could be used.
This is mostly needed for chamber sealers and is also needed for guns that do not fill from the pilot side.
If you just got a normal barrel sealer that fills from the pilot side, a spring is not really needed. When pumping in air from the pilot side, it will probably be pushed forward and thus reseat.

1- reseats the piston.
2- acts as a built in bumper

Ah...you're gonna need a schrader valve or quick connect regardless.

You can't have no fill setup. A spring doesn't fill a piston. So a spring 'can't win', it has advantages over not using a spring. But there is no such thing as 'is a spring better then a schrader'. It makes no sense.

but my point is is it better to reseal the barrel using springs OR pump air from the back of the pilot chamber to reseal after you fired

Doesn't matter, depends on what you want. A spring can be a hassle, trying to find the perfect one. You also have to watch piston bounce, that the spring doesn't bounce the piston back and limit flow.

Bounce is partly why I use a piece of wooden dowel inbetween my SV and spring. Cut it a little long so you can adjust by cutting it down. As for the tension you want the piston sealing face to just touch the sealing face of the barrel.

By the time the piston returns to the barrel the air will be exhausted from the chamber. In my opinion, theres no garrentee, but mine works well. How ever you do it, be sure when you install the filling port make sure it doesn't interfear with the travel of the piston......

hey well hassle or not, doesn't matter, the enjoyment of finding the right part for your spudgun (my opinoin) anyway
