End cap pistons??

G'day guys,

I'm making a pressure pipe boom stick at the moment. I've seen that on alot of guns, there is a pvc fitting thats been sanded a bit, to make a nice tight fitting piston. I'm using a faucet adaptor at the back of the Tee to have access to the piston.

From what I've gathered from other guns on here, a sanded down 3/4in pressure pipe end cap, should work on a 1'' faucet adaptor.

I know this site gets so flooded by silly questions like this but I'm sick as a dog at the moment. I just wanna find out before I go out into the cold to get the fitting.

Yeah they work nicely, what I might recommend is to fill the cap with epoxy then put a nice flat washer on it, then bolt down a sealing face. Good luck, sounds like a great plinker

Oh so I was right when I said a 3/4'' cap would fit into a 1'' Faucet Adaptor?? ! Beautyyyy

Haha oh dang.. It's all good mate. Aww my hopes had sky rocketed then Haha I'll just have to keep on trying different pistons to make.

yes it does mate, i used a 20mm coupler cut in half for the piston of a co-ax i built that had PN18 25mm outer. Needs sanding a bit but alls good in the end. Aussie fittings and PN18 pipe have the same ID pretty much.

Yeah that's what I thought mate. Cheers alot for that hey. The only concern I have is sanding it a bit wonky so I get an oval shaped piston... Maybe the ol' hold glue is on the cards.

Fill it with hot glue then shove a spade bit up its a$$ spin it on the drill with a sanding block rubbing on it, works a treat!

EDIT: CR*P i think it may actually be a 15mm coupler i used in the coax, 20mmm fits inside the female end of a 25mm fitting, little tired mate sorry.

Haha not to worry bud. Thanks anyway. I might just go and make a hot glue piston. It's the easiest. My glue gun has sh!t itself so what do ya think is the best way to melt it? Cut down an old beer can, stick some in and wack it over an open flame or boiling water?

when i did mine i used a jet lighter and dripped it in lol

i have used a soldering iron before but it also creates a hell of alot of smoke, but you can just put a fan to blow it away.

id suggest soldering iron personally.

Soldering iron? In what way would I use that?

lol dont use a soldering iron, that wil burn alot of the glue. I put a metal can in a fire, spary the inside with nonstick, and toss some glue in.

worked fine for me i just turned it down a couple of notches.

i just held it above nd pushed glue stocks aainst it
