Hey guys I´m planning to build a Pneumatic Cannon since... May...
Very simple, very clean... and... Cheap.

Here´s the specs:
- 2" Iron Pipe Chamber - 90cm or 35in
- 2" to 1" Reduction
- 2x 1" 90° Iron Pipe
- 1" Ball Valve
- Interchangeable Barrel (1" - 3/4" and 1/2") - 140cm or 55in

I know Ball Valve suck a lot... But here, Sprinkler Valve costs around R$ 130,00 (local currency) almost US$ 80,00 - And I dont want to spend it...
Pistons can be an exit... I will look for more info...

This is the actual design:

Image

1 - Can I mod the actual design to use a Ball Valve and if I can, someday change it to Piston?

2 - I need to change the sizes (barrel and chamber)?

3 - To mod it someday to use Piston instead Ball Valve, just "put" a Tee, at the Superior 90° Iron Pipe and put a End Cap on it?

Thanks in advance.

Well a ball valve would be easy. Just get a threaded 1 inch valve and your done. i dont think you could make it a piston with this exact design. You do have a place for the piston to sit. But you do not have a place to pilot it. With a few changes you probably could though

If it is all in steel, it may easily be taken apart to design a new configuration.

Where the top elbow is you could just put a Tee and then seat your piston there and then on the back part of the Tee have a ball valve, or some other valve of your choice.

If you wanted to you could go ahead and do that now. When you build it just put a Tee where that top elbow is and screw in a ball valve and close it off. Then operate your cannon by using the original ball valve in the middle to trigger it. when you get around to building your piston remove the middle ball valve and put the barrel in the tee and use it as a piston cannon

WHAT!?

I really doubt that for some reason. What do you pay in?
Yen?
Pesos?
Yuan?
Krona? (Iceland)

I'm not surprised. I know the British pay almost that.

Edit:Ah he's Brazilian...

130 Brazil Reais = 79.51073 U.S. dollars

Yeah... Local Currency Brazil Reais... Just taking a look at BCArms a Mod Sprinkler Valve costs US$ 21,99 converting to local currency R$ 36,00 as cheap as 1" Ball Valve R$ 39,00 (O.O)

But this time I will go Ball Valve, first project, first lessons... n00b ;)
Second Project, g0 Piston and import a Sprinkler Valve from BcArms (hope it arrives here ;D)

Keeping the following specs:
- 2" Iron Pipe Chamber - 90cm or 35in
- 2" to 1" Reduction
- 2x 1" 90° Iron Pipe
- 1" Ball Valve
- Interchangeable Barrel (1" - 3/4" and 1/2") - 140cm or 55in

I guess the B:C ratio is = 1.5/1

"Good enought"?

I dont know if i put some pics of my little ugly basic thing... ;/
The beasts shown here at SF make my future creation appears like a walk on the park ;)

if you want to get more power, buy a union and make it a ballvalve actuated burst disk gun.
if you dicide to make a piston later on make sure you know enough about it (search)

Thanks for the suggestion Sniper Hero... I will look for some more info on Burst Disks... I will update my project details and specs as soon as I have more info about it...

Project Closed for more research...

Thanks guys...
