openable piston/tee
Ok, I have noticed how many piston housings (tees) have the bushings for the pilot screwed in. My question was, is this done instead of cement so you can open the housing to repair/examine the piston? If it isn't, what is the best way to make detachable bushing/coupler in order to replace a piston if necessary.
Yes, There is an O=ring on the bushing that makes a seal, and bolts that hold it in. This lets the piston be serviceable. That or threaded fittings.
the way i do it is i just attach a female threaded adaptor and use a plug to seal it. that way i can service the piston if needed. i dont use the o ring/screw method because i dont have the proper tools and if i did it by hand it would take longer than i would want it to.

To do the bolt on method, yes.FishBoy wrote:wait, you need an o-ring on the bushing?
I would recommend the above procedure as well.
And if you were going to use couplings that were to be glued, but then held with bolts instead, you will need an o-ring to seal it off.
OR glue it, but then your piston isn't serviceable.
