Sorry if this has been asked before but is there any other ways of fixing burst discs on a copper gun rather than using a union, as I need an easy way of doing it that is cheap to reproduce lots of times and it mustn't make the barrel much bigger diameter than the actual pipe for the design i need it for.

There are a couple of other ways, of which I can't remember, but the union was always the best choice. Its semi-cheap, its faster than the rest and all kinds of stuff like that. If what your having a problem with is making the discs, don't worry, just trace the size circle you need once onto a piece of sturdy cardboard and then use that for your template. Its a lot easier than remeasuring each time. Good luck!

I suppose you could use camlocks, although I'm not if they come in copper or not.

Another option would be a flange, but you would have a huge amount of reloading time.

Also, Troll- What kind of pressures are you planning on using on this gun? That would also help us try to figure something out for you.

I am planning on using anything up to 115psi depending on how many layers i get use for my discs, im going to be making a precharged cartridge that will be triggered.

A straight coupling with only one side fixed and the other side used to clamp burst material as it is slid on.

It would mean a very weak barrel-chamber connection so the barrel and chamber would need to be locked together when firing by other means.

the only problem i can see with that is being able to get enough layers of foil between the pipe and the coupling without either the disc getting ripped or the coupling not fitting on at all

Depends on what you are using as burst material and the kind of power you're expecting.

On a budget and for high power, screw connections are the best thing available.

I will probably be using foil, im not to worried about power a i am mainly going for rof
