1.) Will helium give better muzzle velocities?

2.) Can an airgun only have so much power determind by the speed of the valve opening.

3.)can a ball valve airgun be as powerfull as a piston gun, with a VERY fast opening valve ( 0.0something miliseconds), a and a tank ratio of 1.5:1

-Sorry for not posting pictures of my cannon yet, I lost the wire that connects my phone (camera) to my computer.) DOH!!!! Im to afraid to shoot this. I pump it to 300 psi aim, close my eyes in fear, -ping- CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everything goes quite, i scurry of into the shadows. Lol i tried coughing to keep the sound less suspicous!

1) Usually only in higher pressures in order to break the speed of sound more easily, but yes.

2) No, pressure is also a factor in the power of an airgun aswell as the speed of the opening of the valve.

3) It depends on pressure. A ball valve cannon running at 300psi will be more powerful than a piston cannon running at 40psi.

thank you for your answers, just one more, what is the average speed (estimate) of most piston guns with marbles. My guess is anwhere between 500 fps and 700 fps. whats yours?

if you want to work out more accurate velocitys you should download GGDT (google it or its in the spud wiki i think)

There are links to the GGDT in the Wiki and here in Spudfiles.
