Diet Coke Mentos Assault Rifle (DCM Assault Rifle)

Lol I was bored so I just came up with this quick drawing.. im away from my comp with photoshop at the moment so I went oldschool with paint.

Image

The coke would get loaded into the containment chamber then sealed off.(measured loading).. then the mentos would get droped into it and sealed off as well.. then you pull the blowgun to emit the reaction..

Now i can see some problems.. first I believe the reaction is nucleation which would only provide an intimidate burst and not really have much pressure to speak of. so having this many ball valves/triggers would be an issue.. I figured I could skip the blowgun step and load the mentos first.. so then my trigger would be the ball valve for the dietcoke.. but this would be a limitation on measuring.

Any suggestions are welcome.. I'm pretty tired so im sorry if this is a dumb idea...

LOL you would end up with a very sticky blowgun and barrel

i would just stick to compressed air... after all, the air is free!

well yes I could and have done compressed air.. this would be a fun little side project.. but now that you said compressed air... hmm

hybrid diet coke and mentos launcher...,. the possibilities ...

The mentos would be collecting in your mid chamber there. You would probably want to eject the "used one" after each shot.

I don't believe the resulting pressure is going to be that useful ...and it will be a sticky mess to have to deal with. Just my thoughts....

Reminds me of this 10yr old friend of my brother, we did a little chemistry demo w/ baking soda and vinegar. Then when he found out we had some gunpowder too, he wanted us to mix them together b/c ,of course, it would be more impressive than either gunpowder or soda/vinegar seperately

Actually, of the two, the Soda/vinegar is probably the more interesting.

If you superconcentrate the solution you get after it's done (usually by boiling, then cooling), you get a solution of sodium acetate, which does fun things like this:

...although the vinegar/baking soda way of making it usually ends up with a piss yellow solution.
The great thing about this reaction is it's reversible and reusable by reheating it until the crystals dissolve again.

When my son was a baby, we had a portable baby bottle warmer that was based on this stuff. You would boil the plastic pouch to "charge" it when you were ready to travel. To heat the bottle, you snapped a nickel sized piezo element buried in the corner of the pouch and voila', the solidification and the heating started.

It's been around a while....that was 21 years ago.

I wonder if that is useful for ammo......
