Paintball Satchel Charge

For the last week I've been assembling a Satchel Charge (as the parts come in) for an upcoming scenario paintball game.

It operates on about 100PSI, uses an electronically operated 3/4" anti-siphon sprinkler valve.

The Charge is fired from 2 9volt batteries connected in series on a line 20' away.

A powdered charge is put into the chamber by means of the anti-siphon connection on the valve.

The released air along with the powder fills a short and closed off section of Latex tube till it explodes.

Cleared, neat toy! Would like top see this from a distance with a huge powder load. Nicely done..... :D

Yea, sorry for the confusion, the compressed air pushes the powder into the sealed latex tube. The Tube is then overfilled to the point where it pops like a balloon giving a pop and dispersing the powder.

Try and get a video at a different angle, again good work.

I tried to get a video of it going off with my helmet camera but the batteries went dead. I'll try again when I get new batteries.

Got a little video uploading but its not much. I had the camera too close to the burst tube and knocked it over. It was just blast with air only.

that is awesome. i really like that u set it off from a distance. i prefer an electrically ignited powder grenade, though.

does it have enough psi to make the powder blast more dense and/or bigger? i'm thinkin that a longer piece of latex tubing would do it.

It could be made bigger by adding a larger amount of powder. The amount of powder in the test video was rather small.

can u estimate how many times more dense/bigger it can get?

I would say at least 3 times but I will need more testing to know for sure. I'll be making one later to ship off to a friend to use that will have a much bigger bang. It will be made to blow a bigger burst tube and operate with a ball valve at about 650PSI.

looks good.. you could hook it up to a remote start or an RC like singularity back in the day.

Do you use compressed air to fill a latex tube for a powder grenade?

Nicely done!
Few points/questions:
-What if the powder gets all over/in your valve and makes the diaphragm leak?
-Have you fired it without the tube? Does it make much of a difference? (besiedes acting as a burst disk)
-Can you make a vid from a larger distance? :)
