How do i make a 3" piston

I am fairly new to the spudgunning. To make a good pneumatic, i need a 2" or 3" valve. how would i aquire or create one of these?

Getting one may be difficult, but it would be much cheaper to make one. You can make a good piston valve by taking a 1/4" bolt, and mounting washers on it, and putting a piece of gasket material, like neoprene on front of one of the washers. Take a look at "piston valves explained visually" for more explanation. (In the pneumatic discussion section)
