I propose an all PVC contest. Since it is cold in my area it would be challenging to shoot it, so should the contest start soon, and end in June (just for the sake of argument) or start closer to the warmer months? If it started soon, and the end date as quite a ways away, I think some people would pump out some truly creative cannon.
Here are my ideas for rules.
There would not be any prize, except for pride of wining
there would be a couple of categories, Most creative, all out coolest, most powerful.
Please add your thoughts. THIS IS NOT A DECLARATION OF THE CONTEST!!! it is just an idea.
EDIT also there would be pneumatic and combustion
EDIT AGAIN maybe a metal catagorie and a PVC?

maybe its just me but why not do the opposite: An all metal cannons contest because of the winter months....

I think if ther was a long period of time between the start and the finish, we would get some amazing cannons. I think it should be an all metal contest and also an all PVC contest

We did one of these back in 2006 I think. No prizes etc, just the 'pride of winning'.
I have to say our second contest with the $100 first place prize was far better. It made people put in extra effort and spend a little more to try and win the $100 and pay off what they spent building the cannon.
I'm not saying it wont work, i'm just saying it works better with prizes and one big prize with a one or two runner ups.
The categories also should be Combustion, Pneumatic, Hybrid, BBMG like the previous competition. Then you have several winners from each category which are based on votes by the members for creativeness, coolness, power, ingenuity, concept of the cannon etc etc

If you guys acctually make this then i will wait before presenting my all metal cannon, would be cool to win a contest with my first gun(and it is turning out pretty nicely) but just attending a contest with it is pretty awsome. _I like prizes and i would really enjoy an all metal cannon contest(because i am a metal freak) or an ALL cannons contest...

someone setup a paypal account and accept donations? just an idea.

I think it should be open to any one. there should be some guidelines for contestants to follow. Any ideas?
EDIT paypal would work if people donate. than there could be a growing pot. But I am unsure how that would work. I would personally dump all my money into my gun instead of donating

An entry fee most likely. PCGUY donated the $125 total prize money for the last one, but it'd be better if we have an entry fee as well this time. Most members seem to agree also.

How about a winter cannon? Its me i know but in a country with 7months of cold weather you need metal cannons and because it is winter i think it fits in great? I am unsure if an entry fee might not scare members off?

That would be fine and dandy if all entries had a credit card. for some this may not be an option even if they had a sweet gun.

if there was to be this contest... then it would have to be an all metal affair, or just no PVC, as it is winter after all!

Well it's already Winter for your guys. By the time the contest is organised it'd probably be well into Janurary. Then the contest would start around a similar time and not finish for a few months. By that time it's almost Summer again. (Well Spring...but still)

or the date of the entries would have to be in the spring. I think it would be good to officially start the contest on new years, then end it in may or june

Exactly my point Ali, atleast some one agrees! I really think we should use winter as a theme and have a not too long contest so that we are done before summer really hits in...After all the average gun dosnt take over a month or so to build...
