I am finished my hybrid and the meter, however, not[/i the propane hookup. This has been annoying the crap out of me for about a week, as I cannot figure out what size threads are on this propane torch piece. If you know, or know another way to hook this up to a quick disconnect, I could use some help.

I took mine to Ace hardware, found the closest fitting piece of brass, then JB Welded it on there... My Ace has a lot of fittings to choose from and I wasnt able to find a perfect fit.

Most people unscrew that torch extension and screw in a 1/4" compression fitting (the compression threads, not the NPT threads) into the socket. Works great (at least it did for me).

I cut the head off the torch to where it was just the straight part. Then I used a die and threaded it with 1/4" NPT piece. DONE.

Then I screwed that directly into my regulator and hooked a stainless steel braided hose from that into my fuel rail. 8)

OK I'll double down on Velocity's comment. THE cleanest (not the only way of course) is to unscrew the crooked pipe out of the valve base. It will take some effort with some Big A pipe wrenches...it's locktite'd in there pretty well...but it is doable. When the seal breaks you'll hear a snap, then it unscrews out normally.

Then get yourself a male 1/4" tubing compression to male 1/4" npt brass adapter fitting, screw the compression side in with some teflon tape, tighten well, and you're ready to go. After that, anything your heart desires can screw on to the 1/4" npt.

Ok, I got it unscrewed, could I purchase such a piece @ home depot?

Yep, in one of the yellow Watts bags in the brass fitting section...sorry I can't remember the product number. Here it's shown at Lowes.



Just discard the female compression stuff on the end, and screw the male threads directly in the valve base..with teflon tape or pipe dope of course... 8)

Or, just leave the torch head as is and attach the hose.

The stock head has some advantages over all the mods:
1. The small port in the head reduces the chances of getting liquid propane into the meter.
2. The stock head can still be used as a torch. No real reason to permanantly make the torch head unuseable as a torch.
