As a 16 year old with no job, money is a factor in everything I do, and recently i have come across an especially difficult decision,

I currently only have about 200 dollars, and i need help deciding between two things as an xmas gift to myself...

One: a crosman backpacker .22 pellet gun, have wanted this for a long time,

two: work on a coaxial pneumatic .50 m14 replica with wood stock, which exists only on paper as of late, but would be my first coaxial pneumatic.

Both of these are about equal in my opinion of which I want, and I have decided that i have no clue which would be a better investment.

Also bear in mind, the pellet gun is only 140, so i would still have 60$ to drop on the air gun, but if you had to pick just one, which would it be?

buy a pellet gun and spend that 60$ on some other projects or stuff useful for spudding

The pellet gun sounds cool but i'd go with the coaxial... but just Remember who you're asking, the people on a forum about cannons

i know, i was more hoping for reasons to make the gun, because i was leaning towards the pellet gun

You will be very proud of yourself when you make a cannon and shoot your first spud or what ever you can shove down the barrel across the field. Trust me on that one! I was and still am.

Oh no wories, I have built over 10 cannons, but I have never had the confidence to take on a coaxial, I have decided that i will buy the pellet gun, but i will likely have more than enough money to complete the potato gun.

Considering the price tag you put on the 2289G, I'll take a WAG and say your in Canada.

LeBaron has the same thing for much less. My boss liked my modded 1322 so much he ordered one (2289G) this past summer. With shipping and tax it was ~$95 canadian.

The price has since gone up due to dollar exchange.

It should still leave you with enough extra to do the canon.

Yes, I am a proud Canadian, even if that means I have to pay more for the pellet gun of my dreams... Speaking of which, would you happen to know a site, with pictures and everything that describes how to power mod the 2289G?

Personally, I'd go for the pellet gun. You can piecemeal a coax gun, but a pellet gun is exclusively a one-payment deal.

But depending on what you're gonna do with the pellet gun, I probably wouldn't buy the M-14 replica. It's a toy, low-power and probably low-precision.
The pump is an excellent gun, powerful and accurate. I have a very early ancestor of that one, a Crosman Model 105. It's dead accurate, and even with leaky seals, can put a pellet straight through a steel can with 20-30 pumps(takes a while to out-pump the leaks...). But it takes a lot of pumping and your arms are gonna get tired.
If you're going for a plinker, get a good CO2 rifle. If you're looking for real accuracy, go for a break-barrel or a good pump.

That pellet gun has to take 10 pumps I am almost sure you think your arms are going to hurt after reading that. I don't recommend this gun but there is a gun I recommend. A crosman 781. This gun is a single pump airgun it shoots at 440 fps BUT it is deadly accurate I could shoot a bottle cap at 40' without a scope and a missing rear sight actually though I measured.http://www.crosman.com/airguns/rifles/pneumatic/7781

The m14 replica is not a toy, its the base design for the coaxial gun I am considering making, its not like an airsoft gun, it will not really look like that, just simmilar.

I am aware that it is a 10 pump, but is a well reviewed gun, and I am more than used to it, since for the first 2 years of spudgunning I did not have a compressor, I am willing to sacrifice that for the power of a .22 that does not require any C02 or additional equipment.

Next time you should edit your first post instead of adding a new post that is called double posting. Very well but you are really missing out on accuracy I mean a 1'' diameter bottle cap at 40' with not too bad power.
Plus it is alot cheaper so you could use the ''left overs'' to buy materials for your co-ax. Wan't to post plans of your co ax?
