i have an empty helium tank that was used to fill party balloons and was wondering if i could use this as an air tank. nothin super high pressure, 100 psi at the most. not worried about the bulk really. it holds 14.9 cubic feet.

im sure you could, but that could be a bad idea, mostly because its not designed to hold HPA, plus its kinda bulky

Post pictures. Depending on the tank, and if it is still in hydro, then you would be much better off selling it for 2 grand, and building your chamber out of stock fittings.
However, if it is one of those propane tank shaped, single use pieces of crap, I wouldn't ever trust it past 100psi, and the walls are probably too thin to cut it open and re-weld new fittings on.

check what its rating is and if it's higher than 100 psi (I suppose it should be - but check it) and that's all.. it you don't exceed its rating and the tank is in good condition
EDIT
ohh yeah post some pics - that should tell us a lot

well no, I am talking about the tank I have sitting in my back yard, that weighs about 120lbs empty, and can easily hold 3000psi. I doubt it would cost 2 grand, that was a little exaggerated, but you get the idea, it would cost a ton. Only $80 to fill though, in case I ever get a project... ^_^

Personally i would use helium for my guns if i could some how get my hands on it( without spending serious money on it), you seem to be into helium, why bother with just the tank if the gas is one of the best gasses for your purpose? Oh and if you are into gas cylinders overall i would recomend bulk air tanks they are very useful and fairly cheep...

Bulk tanks typically only cost on the order of $200 (empty). Or at least, that's what they cost when I was in the market 10 years ago. Meh, call it $400 today.
