What ammo can a Pneumatic fire? I've been reading about golf balls, sabots, homemade projectiles and other things that are small and hard. What about tennis or racquet balls? Are they too large or too light? Is anyone currently launching them? I know they cant harm a monitor like a golf ball but I live in a tight neighborhood and the people around me didn't appreciate the potatoes on their roofs and I can't imagine their response to golf balls.

You can fire ANYTHING that you can fit down your chosen barrel!
If it's too big then you can either trim it down or get a bigger barrel.
If something is very light, then it just means it slows down faster, which would be ideal for a neighbourhood which doesn't apprectiate hard projectiles falling from the air.

Regardless of your choice of ammunition, have you considered shooting into a backstop so that your stuff doesn't end up on people's roofs? Seriously. You are obviously not controlling your gun. That should NOT be happening.

Wow noob question much...
I agree with D_hall, just tie an old blanket to a tree, so it hangs losely, then pin targets to it.
If the blanket is loose, usually they can stop lighter ammo without tearing the sheet... but just incase, use an old thick blanket.

Like biopyro said, you can shoot anything that can fit down your barrel.
If you want to shoot something smaller, I would suggest wadding it tightly with toilet paper or something to that effect.

If there is anything I have learned in this hobby, it's that you can almost certainly break windows with anything, as long as you put enough pressure behind it

As for safe ammo, soething that disintegrates, such as a sabot of airsoft bbs.

Of course if you increase the pressure and flow enough you can break a window by firing nothing* at all.

except that substantial volume of pressurised air which is now acting across the very large surface area of that brittle glass.

Wow! A smashed Fabergé egg! Just what I always wanted to dislodge that soot fall from my chimney!

I'm sure you could easily make an iPod nano shootable and still work after impact.

Oh even better, now I have to clean three dozen only slightly smashed iPods off the roof because they missed the chimney.

Wrap a Nano in some foam, cover in a plastic bag for a snug fit, load in a 2" barrel, and fire! The bag should help slow it down in the air as well
I bet you I could fire a Nano onto a roof with no damage whatsoever done to the iPod

perfect, put the bag on backwards so that you fire it straight up, then when coming back down it acts as a parachute!
