Hey im building a Pneumatic Cannon and Im thinking about using a modded sprinkler valve on it, I understand how to mod it and everything but there is one thing I just dont get about the whole modding thing. So say you have a 1'' inline modded valve connected to a hose and blowgun. When you press the blow gun, Does the air come out the other end of the inline or does it all flow out the end of the blowgun? I have done alot of searching on this matter but cannot find a straight answer. Any help will be great.

The SV has a pilot chamber, thats the air that comes out of the BG.

Im confused sorry, So correct me if im right, All the air comes out of the blowgun, and the other end of the sprinkler valve is blocked off so no air at all comes out? Ive seen that there is no connection to any kind of barrel from the blow gun in this cannon heres the link. How does that work??

Thanks for the help!

Think of the sprinkler valve as a piston valve. There are two areas that store the pressure; the main chamber and the pilot chamber. When the blowgun is opened, the air from the pilot chamber exits. This pulls the diaphragm away from the seal, which allows the main chamber to dump through the barrel.

Check out the link in my sig. It may better help explain things. Also, check out Piston Valves Explained Visually. Watch those animations. A sprinkler valve works the same way.

In simpler terms, a little air comes out the blowgun to activate the valve, and then most of the air is then released out the other end of the sprinkler to fire the cannon.

Thats great, I about ready to decide to use an electric box to trigger the valve. Thanks for the help! I might even post this cannon in the cannon showcase when I get it finished. :D

you might think you lose power by losing a littleair from the pilot valve but a modded sprinkler is better than using a solenoid.

post your gun, I would love to see it :D
