First off, sorry if this is against forum rules, I know exploding ammo is and Im not sure about targets. These are fun and easy targets for bb caliber guns.

I think this falls into a grey area in the rules, but nonetheless this is a cool idea.

If I understand correctly, there is a continuous spark behind the balloon so when it pops it propane is released, and the propane ignites into a fireball...
I like it!

Edit: Videos would be very helpful for "research"...

or, you couldn just take a regular target, drench it in naptha, and drop a match on it :D , nice idea though!
EDIT: that might be one of the coolest vids Ive seen in a while, congrats!!

At first I thought the the electricity (spark gap) was on when you clip the balloon.
But it should be obvious to anyone not to do that.

Reminded me of This Awesome vid!!!
I am going to watch that again!
(Seroiusly I LOL'd just now at that reminder to be careful). :D 8)

lol I used to make detonating balloons just like this, only with correct mixture of oxy and acetylene, only they were usually "triggered" not shot at. Amazing what they can do to metal cans, microwaves.. etc. Definitely the cheapest form of "rapid disassembly" I've done.

Ever done a rubbish bin? We tried an old car at the tip once, spent a LONG time duct taping every little hole around the doors and such.

Was fairly loud..

Pretty cool though, have any problems with the electrodes/spark next to the balloon?

Is that car one online as a video? I've seen a few people do the same thing with the cutting torch setups at most junk yards lol.

We mostly would only use balloons as the pressure was not a bid deal as long as the mixture was stoichiometric - you would get a Det and not a deflag.

we did like metal 5 gallon cans and plastic 5 gallon cans - it would reduce them to rubish usually. Also old mailboxes, and other sheet metal containers were fun. One of the funniest was filling a projection big screen TV - that was one of the most High Def action scenes i've ever seen lol!

I've recently been thinking of making a Det-gun similar to what they use on farming land and avalanche control, but use it to propel stuff lol.

Its cool, and even better, its safe (in terms of exploding targets that is).
Can't the balloon pop when it gets sparked?
