is it possible to pnuematically mod one of these?

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

I don't see why not, replacing the solenoid with a blowgun as on the "normally" configured valves.

Correct. These have been modified for a compact over/under, but the performance leaves a little to be desired.

So yes, but it is related to a well known snake...

These valves are referred to in Latin as

"Floa Constrictor"

The Sprinkler Valve covers this, as well as a few modification techniques for an anti-siphon sprinkler valve.

As has been mentioned, for performance, just get an inline and a couple of elbows. The only true reason to use this type of valve is to make that bend without the elbows.
