Does anyone know where I can get a schrader valve rated for 500 psi or above for under $40 and with NPT threads? I checked with mcmaster, but their only valves rated for those pressures cost like $42 and don't have NPT threadings.

You can get RATED cores here;

As for the rest of the valve, have a look through this;

I bought the valve from Princess Auto...two for $3.49 IIRC.

I find that ordinary unrated schrader cores can take 800 psi or so without any ill effects.

Ever think of just using something other than a schrader? By the time you're dealing with such pressures, you're no longer dealing with shop air. At that point... Well, I don't understand why anyone would use a shrader anymore. Much better options abound.

Thank you Dave for standing up and calling the king naked. The whole schrader/air chuck thing is far inferior to modern quick connects.

yep but you might consider buying QC fittings rated to high pressures... not just those you can find in a hardware shop
