Interesting GGDT phenomena...

I've been playing with GGDT a lot here lately in an attempt to refine some designs I've been working on, so I've been looking at the acceleration curves as opposed to just the velocity curves...
I'm guessing that what I'm getting ready to describe is occuring because of gas cooling during expansion and then compression heating, because the projectile is "outrunning the pressure and then the pressure catches up"....
What GGDT is showing(decimater and a superball) is that at firing the acceleration is 16,000g's, and at 14" it has dropped to 5,000g's, but after that it starts increasing acceleration so that at 24" it's 6,000g's, at 40" it's 8,000g's, and at 60" it's accelerating at 10,000gs....
What does this mean in relation to internal ballistics??? I thought it was a strange phenomena, so I figured I'd throw it out there for therocket scientists....
I've also noticed that with 750psi and superballs GGDT predicts better performance with co2 than air, but with heavier balls it predicts air as faster....

Not entirely sure what phenomena causes GGDT to do this, because Apocalypse doesn't replicate it. (Then again, I accept that it may be my modelling that's in error. I do get things wrong at times.)
For some reason, at around Mach in the gas, the acceleration stops falling, and starts rising again.
Whatever causes it, I think it's probably part of why GGDT has a habit of giving questionably generous velocities (relative to real life figures) around and above the SOS in the gas.

I'll be the first to agree that GGDT has issues above the SOS. There are some routines there that I know aren't entirely accurate from a physics perspective but where attempts to model shock heating and the like. I need to take them out, but I've just not gotten around to it.
That said, Jeep, can you post some screen shots? 'Tis hard to make any sort of statements with only the data presented.

I can email the gdt files, but I'm on an old crappy computor that doesn't take screenshots... or does SF allow gdt file transfers...

Well, you could copy/paste the contents of the .gdt file to a post (they're just text files, after all).
