Custom Pressure Regulator

While building my new cannon, I realized that I must build my own regulator as nothing exists with a high enough flow rate in that pressure output range.

The regulator case is 304 stainless
FOS @ 1000 psi=30 +/-
Output range = 0 - 1900psi
Internal orifice (smallest) .375" dia

hmmm nice... now what about your LP regulator ? is it also custom made or is it just an off the shelf part ?

also what about the launcher itself ? I would really like to see the main valve...

EDIT
I've just converted volume... are you sure it's .39ft^ @ 1000psi? that's about 11 000 ccm @ 1000psi

so... did you calculate it in this way -> volume X pressure in bars = flow and then you added '@ 1000 psi' by a mistake or is it just a really large gun ?

You lost me. What LP regulator? The only LP regulator I have is on my BBQ.

The tank size is .39^ft and at 1000psi that = 26.5^ft at 14.7 psi.

Nice work!
Are you going to share the plans for this regulator?

lol sorry... I assume that LP has something to do with propane right ?
by LP reg I meant low pressure...

EDIT
26.5^ft at 14.7 psi
but that's 750 L... so about 11 L of air at ~70 atm... 10L chamber volume is huge by my standards - given the fact that it runs at > 1000 psi means that either the gun is optimized for highest power and is large or it's simply huge

How large is the gun ? and what do you use as a source of air ?

Eventually, if anyone is interested.

Barrel is 1.251id x 72". I use industrial cylinder gas for the pressure source.

so what about the main valve ? it's piloted/actuated using air at (relatively) low pressure, right ? I think I recall someone who mentioned that his gun regs air down to lower pressures for controlling the firing cycle

Good memory!

By any chance, do you have the GCode for this? We have a Haas CNC lathe and mill at my high school, and I happen to need a high pressure regulator.

Now that's a shiny regulator, good job!

I'm interested in the plans as well.

Good memory!

I now realize that you were referring to the low pressure (LP) regulator for the loading / firing cycles. It's off the shelf. I bought it from PALMER. I think it's called "Boulder"
well I was sure it was you but then when didn't know what I meant I begun to have doubts
:D

BTW, Didn't we discuss this project earlier? I mean, a couple of months ago?
I remember that someone wanted to build a scaled up paintball gun valve as the main valve but I can't find it in my PMs

well, anyway it seems to be the best pneumatic on this site - it deserves to be discussed in a separate thread (preferably with lots of damage videos and pics  )

No...it wasn't me. This unit is for 1.250 ball bearings
