I want to make a underbarrel paintball shotgun. The basic parts will be a bernzomatic propane or mapp gas cylinder and a 3/4" nipple.

I will use a solidly attached rod to the valve to save space.
Just a few things I haven't been able to find out by searching.
#The valve ports are there any guidelines I need to follow other than use cutouts and not two pieces?
#What Should I use for a buffer? I'll be using a HDPE valve.
#Will I have to worry about the paintballs dislodging the valve or sudden movements doing the same?

In this case, what's the advantage of using a QDV over a conventional piston valve with a blowgun pilot?

I'm not quite sure but I've never had any luck with pistons.

So a simple face seal is harder to do then two o-ring seals?!
We can help you with your piston valve development.

That rod attached to the piston is scary. It will smack back with a lot of force.

Paintballs will probably break when loaded like that. You'll fire liquid paint.
#Will I have to worry about the paintballs dislodging the valve or sudden movements doing the same?
That depends on the friction of the piston.

Pretty much what I was thinking.
