so i found myself without phone or internet one afternoon, and since my air rifle is busted, i decided to do a brain storming session, many pages were ripped out due to them containing bad ideas. lol you should see my bin

well anyways, i decided to come up with a breach system which will work well! unlike my current system.
here is what i came up with:


very basic sketch...., but the system includes an outer casing with a bolt, bolt guide and a cut out slot which the user can insert the projectile (then bolt is pulled back), an inner moving pipe (connected to bolt) this pipe is closed on one side, and is under spring pressure. when moved back inlet valve is blocked, when moved forward, inlet valve is open and connected to barrel.

the issue is i have no machining tools, nor do i have access to some, and i think it will be best if this can be made out of a sturdy material which wont shatter, bent or crack when dropped or when fired.

i was thinking of making it out of wood and lining the inside with PVC and making the inner tube out of aluminium, but i am not sure yet.

its a good idea, but i see that your going to put it on the end of your co-ax, that means theres gonna be alot of dead space from the valve to the bolt.

good idea. i think it will work. i'll let you build it first tho. then if it looks good and works good i'll make one.

FWIW

My slip in barrel in the Trom-Boyn has been shot over 100 times with pressures up to 550 psi and without failure.

Too much is made of locking the bolt.

The bolt lock is for firearms that generate tremendous pressures.

I always start simple and lightweight and if necessary increase as needed.

boyntonstu, i got rid of the spring mainly for "niceness", it is not needed.
Marffy, you can build it if you want, soon as i get back home i have my final year so i dont know how much time i am going to have.
Cosmic Muffin, yeah it may not be a coax, i was thinking of some sort of hammer... not sure yet.
