Tee Piston Sniper Rifle

What do you guys think of this design? I know there is a lot of dead space, but aside from that, I think it's pretty good... The think on the 3/4" Tee is a 1" coupling and some 1" pipe after it. That is what the barrel slides in. The barrel will have a some-what airtight spacer on the outside in between it and the 1" PVC. Pilot is a 1/4" ball valve. (should it be upgraded?) I got the backwards barrel sealing idea from another cannon in SpudFiles, but it was copper.

I have to log off now so I won't see replies until tomorrow morning.

It'll work fine. What were you wondering about it?

why not just lose the dead space and make it bolt action?
And because you have such a small piston, why not just use a QEV?

You're cool. :D

I don't understand... I designed it like this because it was the only way I could get a sniper rifle layout.

I don't want to buy one, because they're too expensive and the only place I know where to get one is too far away. I could buy one online, but...

If you're going to use that configuration then put the bolt out the back of the screw on cap (lose that) Then you can just slide the whole barrel out the back and then use the bolt handle to lock it in place for the shot.
You'll need to make an air port at the bottom of the barrel and an ammo slot. You'll also need to fill in the dead space at the rear of the barrel.

Simply get a qev and mod it to chamber seal like BtB, and it will look much less ugly ...

well, no offense, but this isn't exactly the best layout for a "sniper" style launcher.
this is not a great sketch, but it ought to give you an idea

Yeah I see what you're thinking... I'll take it into consideration. It would eliminate the dead volume, but it also eliminates my breech load. What kind of breech did you sketch there?

EDIT Here's a new sketch, does it look better?

heres a suggestion. ditch the double wye, and turn it into a T. make that T your piston area. instead of having a cleanout and a bolt thing, do one or the other. if your going to use the cleanout, you don't need the bolt, assuming you can push the projectile with your fingers. you could just make the bolt like a normal bolt, theres no need for the cleanout.

I was trying to represent a bolt action loading system, you could make it pump, bolt, tee mag, etc..
Nerfhaven actually has a great how to on a pump action loading system, you should really check it out

Grock, the Wye is my piston area.
And Loackednloaded I'll look. Maybe.

GF, i meant if you make the lower wye a T, and put your piston in there, i think it would look a lot cleaner

A sleeker and more appealing look in my opinion would be Singularity's desgin here:http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/25mm-sn ... 10615.html

It can be modified to your liking and is very ergonomic. Another idea would be the sideways tee design seen here for example: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10406&
