so i was watching this movie today called hell ride (kinda random) well any way, this film try to recreate 'Cowboys and Indians' fights/situations in the present day while also taking on a cultist feel. instead of horses, there are bikes..... w8 you guys dont want a break down of this film!! you want to the the mad substitute for a bow which the protagonist uses.
some random bits of blue in this one due to vlc capturing something incorrectly
this is probably all special effects, but the rifle had the power to launch what appeared to be a aluminum arrow half way through someone at close range.
hope this hasnt already been talked about.... did a quick search and i didnt see anything in the 90 something pages which showed up when i had a skim over them.

heh it looks like a QEV gun... could you find those pics in higher resolution?

A sharp headed arrow would go entirely through a person at about 150 fps.
ANY spud gun would do that with ease. The only reason movie makers show arrows only sticking in rather than passing through is because it looks more dramatic.

I do believe it is...
Nice to see some of " our" creations hit the big screen..
It doesn't seem to be anything special..
Hey...we could probably sell copies of it on ebay, referring to the movie..
Or not...
Anyway, Vinnie Jones rocks...well basically all of the cast does..
I just checked out the movietrailers on Youtube and I must say..
It looks like one I'll enjoy....

damn I can't find these pics anywhere... it seems that there is a DCV there
judging from the size of the chamebr and the small pipe attached to the ting probably used as a trigger it might be using the same principle that I suggested a while ago (to use a DCV instead of a hammer valve with modded QEVs)
EDIT
ok I found one but in this time there is no chamebr there (though it does look like a DCV)

lol they didn't credit me
EDIT no2
OMG it really is just a QEV + DCV combo

Everybody outside of this community would dismiss that thing as fake/ SFX...
why air thay useing air gun not realy ones?
It's a freaking REAL qev-gun!!
And every other movie uses real guns already...
It's about time somebody used our stuff in the movies!

Looks like a futuristic ban on gunpowder or cartridge manufacture etc.
Is the small attachment a CO2 adapter with a threaded 16 gram?

Looking at other stills there are characters using revolvers, so perhaps not. How is the gun portrayed in the movie, i.e is it multi-shot, is he ever seen "pumping it up" or "charging" it? Chamber looks overkill for such a short barrel and I'm not sure how useful a one-shot gun would be in a film like that.

Yep, and the notion of using a gun to fire an arrow is real too, bothing using
powder and
air
Nice find!
According to the specs of the air powered model:
Power - CO2 or Compressed Air to 2,000 PSIG
Muzzle Energy - to 200 ft. lbs.
Performance with - (2512/16" Arrow) - 600 FPS
... so no doubt it has "the power to launch what appeared to be a aluminum arrow half way through someone at close range", as Hawkeye pointed out it would actual go straight through someone even at longer ranges.

well we only see it like three times..... and consequently 3 people died by it. he also had a revolver in a hidden pocket around his ankle. we never see him charging the gun at all, and he is the only one to have this type of gun. the rest mostly have revolvers.

like i said before, the whole purpose of using bows and arrows is to try and recreate 'cowboy and indian' fights. Or so it would seem.......

I must admit that it almost happened

lol
anyway it's good to know that I am not the only person who thinks that DCVs are ideal for piloting QEVs
EDIT
Pics for you tatfree
