Bondo Piston

For my compact piston valve, I casted a bondo piston to slide in the bushing. I was planning to use a rubber gasket as the bumper but will this be enough. I want the thinest possible bumper that will work. Also how does bondo work as a piston. I was a little worried about it cracking but it doesnt seem to brittle .
Thanks, Clemsonguy1125

Sorry,
Does bondo crack if used for a piston?
Would a rubber gasket work for a bumper?

I would use bigger than a rubber gasket... maybe like three. Or you could epoxy a couple little springs around the gasket to bump it even better. I still think you should use a plug instead of a bushing, but too late

It wouldnt work any better because screws world be sticking out in a plug, and its not to late thats an old picture when the cap piston was in it

Ohhh...
yeah the screws would be sticking out.. or you could get short ones... or you can use threads and not put any screws in at all.

To late the tees already installed and this is slightly more compact

I have no idea how well it will work but it's worth a shot

Bondo is brittle. It is not intended to be built up to the thickness that is achived by making pistons. If you try Duraglass or Allmetal you may come up with a more durable piston since Allmetal and Duraglass are renforced with aluminum powder and fiberglass respectively.

Well since I already built it Ill try it but your probably right, If it breaks Ill just uses a 1 1/2 inch plug sanded down
Edit-Just found AngryChauncey gun that uses a bondo piston
heres the pic
